me no matter how often I listen to the classical
and pianistic compositions of Norway’s greatest
composer Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843-1907).
He was so inspired to compose by his surro-

So to now be here at Norway’s capital of
Oslo to first attend the world event of The
International Church Music Festival -
- under the patronage of HRH Kronprinsesse
Mette-Marit of Norway - is of utter delight
to someone like me. And then to plan here
to also hear some of the all-native and all-
extraordinary classical music of Edvard
Grieg at his own homeland, is an added
bonus for me personally as an avid
aficionado -of all Grieg's classical
and piano compositions.

I am here not to write about church music or the noted appearances of world choirs per se,
but rather to drench myself in such internati-
onal church music and choral events along with
plenty of classical Grieg. I’d like to go to Grieg’s
coastal Norwegian homestead, too, at Bergen,
that’s about a 6 to 7 hour train ride west from
here at Oslo at where I arrived late tonight
via Moscow on the glittering wings of
the huge Russian Aeroflot.

Snow and very cold at just below freezing is still
very much winter here in Norway that reaches
the most northern sub-zero Arctic Ocean and
then turning eastward to Finland's coldest
of cold Lappland. The more winter it is,
the warmer then is the suffuse sounds
of great world classical music.
.
I want to see first what else there is to be
seen of importance and interest to me here at
the becoming capital of Norway, before perhaps
going quickly off to fly to Grieg’s own birthplace.
Sadly, I have after all only very limited days to
spend here in Norway due to other plans of mine.

Norway’s overwhelming majority faith is that of the Evangelical Lutheran tradition and it is the state’s only official religion. I intend Sunday to worship here at either one of its local Lutheran parishes or at the American Christ Episcopal Church of the ECUSA (American Anglican); or at St. Edmund’s of the Anglican Diocese of Europe at Oslo. I’m pretty sure that such churches will already be involved closely with the International Church Music Festival that attracts classical and church music aficionados -from around the world. The 10-day festival program is adored and lavished with dozens upon dozens of major concert events. This is the "must" place to be seen and heard and the most important world venue to be at right now, if you are very fond of all-things called "Church Music," like your's truly and squarely ... Pity, I cannot stay for the full 10-day event that is both ticketed and free for the more than 35 listed program items ... In any event, I am just so pleased to be here in person.
