Some Saints.

.
Rhyw Sant , Rhyw Mo.
At Ewythr Monty i mewn Cymraeg a Saesneg.
Some Saints, Some Not.
By Uncle Monty in Welsh and English.

Today is St. David's Day, The Patron Saint of Wales.
Let me not waste any more time telling you in English,
but rather let me first tell you in pure and unadultered
Welsh on this national day in Wales that occurs
on every March 1st.
***
Dewi Sant  - Pwy oedd Dewi Sant?
Ganwyd Dewi Sant tuag at ddiwedd y bumed ganrif, llai na
chant o flynyddoedd wedi i'r olaf o lengoed Rhufain adael Cymru.
Tad Dewi oedd Sant, etifedd teulu brenhinol Ceredigion, a'i fam
oedd Non, merch i Gynyr o Caio, enw sydd yn cael ei gofio mewn
nifer o eglwysydd a ffynhonau sanctaidd yng Nghymru, Cernyw a
Llydaw. Cafodd Dewi ei addysg yn Henfynyw yng Ngheredigion,
lle ddysgodd y wyddor, y salmau a'r llithoedd ar gyfer y flwyddyn
eglwysig. Sylfaenodd gymdeithas mynachaidd Geltaidd yng Nglyn
Rhosyn, ar arfordir gorllewinol Sir Benfro, yn y man lle sefir Eglwys
Gadeiriol Tyddewi heddiw. Mae'n bosib i'r safle fod yn gartref i
gymuned crefyddol gynnar iawn. Mae Sant Padrig hefyd yn
gysylltiedig gyda'r safle, gannwyd Sant Padrig yn Ne Cymru, a
dywedyd iddo dreulio ychydig o amser yng Nglyn Rhosyn
cyn hwylio i Iwerddon o Borth Mawr.
***
Tyfodd enwogrwydd Dewi fel athro drwy'r byd Geltaidd. Roedd
Dewi yn byw bywyd llym, fel pob mynach Celtaidd arall - yn wir
cafodd y llysenw Dewi Ddyfrwr. Mae yna nifer fawr o chwedlau yn
ymwneud a Dewi. Efallai mai'r enwocaf yw y bregeth yn Llanddewi
Brefi yng Ngheredigion, pan yn annerch y dorf enfawr fe gododd y
tir o dan ei draed er mwyn bod pawb yn gallu clywed ef yn siarad.
Dywedid i golomen pig-aur lanio ar ei ysgwydd fel
symbol o'i sancteiddrwydd.
***
Daeth y sefydliad yng Nglyn Rhosyn yn un o'r mannau cysegredig
mwyaf pwysig yn y byd Cristnogol, ac yn sicr yr un fwyaf pwysig
yng Nghymru: roedd llwybrau a heolydd drwy Gymru gyfan yn
arwain tuag ato, ac yn y canol oesoedd roedd dau bererindod
i Tyddewi yn cyfateb i un pererindod i Rhufain.
***
Felly daeth Glyn Rhosyn yn ganolbwynt i ddyheadau crefyddol
y genedl Gymreig a fel ysgrifennodd Gerallt Gymro (Giraldus
Cambrensis): 'Fe ddaeth Esgobaeth Tyddewi …yn symbol o
annibyniaeth Cymru…a dyna paham y dyrchafwyd Dewi
ei hun i fod yn Nawdd sant Cymru.'
***
Mae Mawrth y cyntaf wedi ei gofnodi fel dyddiad marwolaeth
Dewi Sant, ond mae yna ansicrwydd ynglyn a'r flwyddyn - mae
589 yn bosibilrwydd. Wrth i'r mynachod yn Nglyn Rhosyn baratoi
ar gyfer ei farwolaeth, dywedodd Dewi wrthynt: 'Frodyr a
chwiorydd, byddwch lawen a gwnewch y pethau bychain
a welsoch ac a glywsoch gennyf fi.'

Every March also brings St. Paddy's Day the world
over. I only wish St. David's Day and St. George's
Day had the same impact as St. Paddy's does. In
any event, lets us celebrate each one of them ac-
cording to our heart's desire. This March
also brings us Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day,
Mardi Gras, and Fat Tuesday all on the same day
of March 8th, 20ll. Then Ash Wednesday the
following day and the beginning of Holy Lent ...
But first St. David and then St. Paddy ...

St. George's Day - May 2nd, 2011.
In the meantime, St. George's Day this year has been
officially transferred from April 23rd to Bank Holiday
Monday, May 2nd, 2011, since St. George's falls on
Easter Eve. Source: The Canterbury Church Book
and Desk Diary, 2011. Such is the official calendar
 for the English Anglican Church.
.
Last year there was some talk about making St.
George's Day a national holiday, but no word have
I heard this year about such! The problem is the
English seem to be cowed by those who oppose
everything that was once true and blue of England!
We're infested now with so many who aren't Eng-
lish, aren't Christian, and aren't patriotic in the
least. So old St. George is trashed freely by
those who have no claim whatsoever to his name!
Immigrants, Muslims, fake ayslum seekers, and
foreigners now swell the ranks of those who actively
oppose what is truly English and British while at the
same time grabbing whatever they can scrounge
from out of  us as they oftentimes also spit in our
Anglo-Saxon face. They are aided and abetted  by
those home grown looney lefties along with their
hideous henchmen at vile New Labour and the
odious Equalites and Human Rights Commission
(EHRC) outfit headed by the black and immigrant
trouble maker Trevor Phillips, who is absolutely no
friend of the true British! So, be proud to be a
 "St. Georger" no matter what.

As if nobody doesn't already know,
Friday, April 29th, 2011, is the Royal Wedding
of HRH Prince William of Wales to Ms. Kate
Middleton, who will then become Catherine,
Princess of Wales. The Canterbury Church Book
does not list the Royal Wedding Day, since the official
announcement came too late for inclusion in its 2011
Desk Diary. His Grace, the Archbishop of Canterbury,
Rowan Douglas Williams, will officiate at the English
pomp and ceremony of the regal matrimony.
April 29th also happens to be St. Catherine's Day!

And so, I have presented some saints
and some not of which Wills and Kate claim
no such saintly status much like most of us. While
most of us agree that David of Cymru, Patrick of
Eire, and George of England, are well-known saints
of historic and ancient proportions. Happy then St.
David's Day, St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day
and St. Catherine's Day to each and every one of you.
Oh, and Happy Mardi Gras, too ... There at New
Orleans "The Saints Come Marching In ..."
.
Happy St. David's Day, Uncle Monty.

Dearest Monty, I hope I am not too
late to wish your the Happiest Saint David's Day. With your Welsh
background you do St. David proud.
I love your latest blog piece
"some saints, some not". Let me
also ask, what is going on with Big Issue and you? Are they still
being downright mean? I will visit
your other blog next to find out
more about that. Much love to you
dearest Monty. xxx Sharon.
