At where our magnificent Christ child was born,

the Palestinian town of Bethlehem is a pretty depressing

site on the West Bank with its Isreali 30ft. high security walls

with gun towers and streets full of garbage and trash along

with niggardly Muslim taxi drivers pesting the Christain visitor

like me to take a taxi to the Church of the Nativity at where

Christ was actually born. On the day I arrived at Bethlehem,

fistfights and scuffles broke out again between rival Orthodox

Christian clergymen over the denominational cleaning

of the church in preparation for Christmas Services.

The Israeli rationale against the Palestinians borders on a kind

of Fascism that feeds its pathological mindset to the point of no

return with its 30ft high security walls and gun towers and count-

less armed police and soldiers at every turm along with their

deadly and tigger happy AK-47s. It's all going to end in a final

and huge bloodbath which will devour and destroy all that

Israel should stands for.

My Street View of Bethlehem.

I've chosen primarily not to write about Bethlehem from a

religious point of view per se, but rather from an English

traveller's view of the city of Christ's birth.

There was a listlessness about the place and a sense of

emptiness prevaled all around me as I walked the streets

of Broken Bethlehem to try to find its social pulse and its

lifeblood and historic character and the living essence

of the local people. It was deadpan to me.

The more I walked thru Bethlehem, the more I felt depressed

at what I saw or rather what I had expected to see of such

an important place in the origins or birth of Christianity.

It was awful to me.

I had expected to see joy and I did not. I had expected to

see Christ's face everywhere, but I did not. I had expected

to see signs of the cross here and there, but I did not aside

from the churches. And, I had expected to see a happy

Bethlehem, but I did not.

All I saw were cars being stopped on the streets by

overzealous Palestinian police. All I saw were people who

seemed resigned to the oppression and injustice of the

Jewish State of Israel over them. All I saw were growing

Islamic mosques against the old churches of old at ancient

Bethlehem. And all I saw made me realise that Bethlehem

is broken as a free human community that has been shafted

like so much of Palestine thesedays under Israel's bare

ironfist of Jewish state police and singular Hebrew

military. It pitiful, really!

PLO & Political Bethlehem: Arafat & Abbas.

Politically, all I found were banners and posters of the

Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the

Palestinian National Authority (PNA). Such appears to

be dominated by Muslims rather than Christians, who are

a growing minortiy inside Palestine and. of course, inside

the whole of Israel.

Only one person was willing to talk to me about Palestinian

politics. He reserved his most critical comments about the

British, who he blamed for giving away to the Jews their home-

land of Palestine and thus robbing the Palestinans of their rightful

place and statehood.. He cusred the British for what they did

leading upto the creation of the illegimate State of Israel in

1948. When I asked him what he thought of Tony Blair as the

Peace Envoy between Israel and Palestine, he could hardly

contain his hatred and comtempt against despised Blair as

he then spit on the street when I mentioned his vile name.

"He's a paid mouthpiece of the Zionists," he declared

at almost choking on his own words against double-

dealing and deceitful-wheeling Tony Blair.

Asked what he thought about the creation of a Palestinian

State, he said it was too late to be peacefully-created

without further bloodshed and violent reaction against

Israeli present oppressive policies under Israeli PM

Benjamin Netanyahu "fascist" Likud Party.

The Christian gentleman gave little hope of a peaceful

settlement of the Palestinian Question. "We shall rise again,

mark my words, against the tryants of Israel," he remarked

with his barely concealed anger. British-educated he was and

was in his early 70's and was imprisoned and tortured by

the Israelis he told me. I have no way, of course, of

confirming the truth of what he said. Although, I have

no reason not to believe him.

Overall, my visit to Broken Bethlehem was a sore

eye-opener and the complete antithesis of a free and

open society. I am glad I wasn't born a Christian in

Bethlehem or have to live under the foul yoke of today's

Israeli Police State or the equally brutal Palestinian police.

My memory of Broken Bethlehem will not be mended

soon, although I am certainly pleased to have visited much

of Palestine and, of course, Bethlehem, too. Oddly

enough, my Christain faith as an English Anglican has

only been strengthened and not weakened by what I

saw at Bethlehem, at Jericho, at Ramallah, and at

Hebron, and that all four of them stand inside Palestine

of past centuries untold. Broken Bethlehem doesn't

deserve its present-day fate and condition in the

Name of the Good Lord and Our Saviour

Christ Jesus. Amen.

My Mistake!!!

I made a mistake earlier in stating my need to attend

a cardiology appointment today, when such wasn't

due after all for today, but rather for tomorrow. So

there was no need for me to come back later today to

complete this latest story of mine of "Broken Bethlehem."

Nor did I need to rush off now to a cardiology appointment

with my good British cardiologist Dr. Gerrard Carr-White.

In the meantime, I did leave you with some images of

Bethlehem that are not intended to be of the tourist kind,

but rather of the 21st century depresssing city of

Christ's birth. It isn't very pretty or very religious as a

Palestinian city for the average and informal Christian

pilgrim like me, except at the churches now surround-

ed more by hostile Islam than healthy Christianity.

From the Wailing Synagogue of Saturday, I then

went the next day of Sunday to the Armenian

Patriarchate's Cathedral of Sts. James at

the Eternal City of Jerusalem.

From Orthodox Rabbis, I then went to Orthodox

Christian Archpriests. From no music at the syna-

gogue, I then went to choral hymns of Orthodox

Christianity.

...

From the presence of no women inside the synagogue,

I then went to the cathedral packed with praying

ladies. From the deeply rabbinical atomsphere, I

then went to the ancient rites and liturgies and icono-

logies of the patriarchal eminence of His Beatitude,

Archbishop Torkom Manoogian II, Patriarch of

All-Jerusalem, giving his important ecclesiastical

and religious presence at the Solemn High Mass.

The Armenian Orthodox Rite.

The three-hour long service of the archbishop's was highly

ritual with perhaps 10 other clergy assisting the him in the

preparation of the Holy Eucharist. Berobed in his archie-

piscopal vestments of patriarchal signifiance and splendour,

His Beatitude could at times be hardly seen thru the dense

incense that prevailed like "holy fog" inside Jerusalem's

Cathedral of Sts. James.

Throughout the service, folks just walked in and out almost
like it was a shopping centre instead of a House of Worship.
The Armenian priests and seminarians were mostly stiff
and unfriendly with their demands not to talk or to take
pictures. Much of what they demanded was pretty well
ignored by most worshippers and non-worshipper alike.
When one of the priests started to remonstate with me
about taking photographs, I told him he must be silent
and not to talk loud as he had demanded earlier of me
and others. He looked at me like daggers, but he finally
reckoned he needed to first shut his own mouth up
before constigating others. Frankly, some of the
Armenian seminarians looked more like thugs
than future men of the cloth.

The Armenian Patriarchate is one of the Holy Keepers of
the Holy Places in the Holy Land that dates back from
the earliest times of Orthodox Christianity. "The Church
of Jerusalem was chronologically the first Church in his-
tory, and the first bishop of that Church was St. James,
called 'the Brother of the Lord" in the gospels. In AD
381, the Ecumenical Council of Constantinople accorded
the honor fit to the See of Jerusalem equal to that of Rome
and Constantinople, so that the occupants of the See were
called 'Patriarchs.'" states the Armenian Patriarchate
literature in English that I found available inside
the Cathedral.

Elsewhere At Jerusalem, A Greek Orthodox Priest.

After the Cathedral of Sts. James, I ventured the next day

to visit Jerusalem's Christ Church that is the oldest Pro-

testant Church in the Middle East. It isn't Anglican for

Christ Church had little semblance to Historic Angli-

canism. It was a mix of mild Wesleyanism and Evan-

gelicalism. I didn't attend any services there since I

wanted only to visit the church and its guesthouse

that is situated just across from the old Eternal

City's Tower of David. See the image below

Overall, I so enjoyed Religious Israel and not its politics
and seizure mentality that is seen everywhere inside the
Jewish State and especially with its outrageous injustice
and ill-treatment of the Palestinians. Visiting The Wailing
Wall was for me the real highlight of my Middle East trip.
I shall always remember, too, sitting inside the secret
Wailing Synagogue that for me as an English Anglican
was rare for a non-Jew to experience upfront like I
did. My encounters inside Palestine was also a
journey of discovery for me, if not in a religious
sense then certainly in a social and political sense
for sure. Standing at Bethlehem was an affirmation
of my personal Christian faith, although the city
itself I found rather depressing with the Israeli
30ft high security barricades and gun towers.
Surely, Christ must cry!! I almost did ...

On the same day I was in Bethlehem, the Christmas cleaning

of the Church of the Nativity turned into fistfights and scuffles

"between rival Christian clerics zealously guarding denomi-

national turf at the holy site," reported Associated Press.

"Brooms and fists flew inside the church, which marks the

birthplace of Jesus, as some 100 priests and monks of the

Greek Orthodox and Armenian Apostolic churches brawled.

order." No one was arrested, "Because all those involved

were men of God," noted one of Palestine's top copz

Part 1 of 2.

Standing just feet away from The Wailing Wall - or more formally

called The Western Wall - at the Old City of Jerusalem was a

profound and poignant experience for me as an English Anglican

at Judaism's most Holy Religious site. I shall always remember

standing at The Wailing Wall.

Jerusalem is after all about as rabbinical as one can get at The

Eternal City that also includes a deep and shared history and

religious identity with the world's millions of Muslims and

Christians. Being in Jerusalem only helped me to strengthen

my own Christianity while recognising Israel as the

ancestral home of the World Jewry.

Not only did I stand at The Wailing Wall in utter amazement

and respect, I was also privy to entering the secret Wailing

Synagogue at the far side of the Wailing Wall that few, if any

non-Jews, have witnessed first hand like me and who also

covertly photographed the rare interior scenes (with some

of my photoshotz shown above) inside the secret archway

as I wore a pure white skullcap, or more correctly a

yarmulk, as if I was in fact a devout Jew. Under

Jewish law, a male must cover his head during

prayer and/or when entering the synagogue

Off To The Synagogue They Go!

***

What I saw was a Rabbinical Jerusalem that few outside

of Jerusalem or Israel have actually seen like I did. The

Torah, the prayers, the devotion, the spirituality, the

absolute Jewishness, and the abiding tradition of the

religious and Orthodox Jews was extraordinary and

completely fascinating to me. I sat inside the Wailing

Synagogue for a number of hours as I sat respect-

fully and silently watching and recording what I saw

for the first time in my Christian life. Nobody asked

me a thing and nobody said I shouldn't be there,

although I'd half-expected one of the Rabbis or

Orthodox members to ask me who I was and

what I was doing there for they surely would have

known I was not a Jew let alone an Orthodox one.

With the occasional glance at me, they said nothing

and I said nothing so we got along just fine!! I felt

privileged to sit inside the inner sanctum, if you

will, of deeply religious Judaism like I did. The

religious ignorant would be frightened or fretful

of such, while the religiously aware would delight

at witnessing at what I saw. Yes, indeed, I did!

no women were permitted and hence I saw not one!

Beyond that, Rabbinical Jerusalem is the affirmation

of the Jews in which their own unique identity and

special ancestry comes alive for them like no other

place on earth. Israel is where they belong and no-

body is going to take that away from them without

the last drop of Jewish blood being spilled for the

whole world to see. But even at The Wailing Wall

armed undercover police agents stood guard for

fear of some outsider coming in to attack by force

those who pray at The Wall. But no matter what,

Rabbinical Jerusalem will no doubt survive against

all odds and all foes.

Having stood right there (as shown above) as one of the few

Western visitors to North Korea, I still feel rather eerie after

seeing the body of his father before the body of the North

Korean "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il now also lying in state

at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in Pyongyang. A visit

to the Memorial Palace, with its three miles of marble

corridors and moveable floors, is an obligatory one for

any foreign visitor, including me, to North Korea's

twilight city of Pyongyang.

North Koreans Mourning The Death Of Their "Dear Leader"

Kim Jong-il. Can You Imagine The British People Mourning

The Death Of Our Own Deceitful "Dear Leader" Tony Blair

And His Ilk At Such A Public Outpouring?

Never in my life did I find such a city like Pyongyang so strange

and so isolated from the world beyond its borders. The rise

of Jong-il's 28 or 29 year old son Kim Jong-un as the New

North Korean ruler raises more questions than answers.

***

With 12 days of national mourning, anything could be going

on behind the scenes of the highly secretive Stalinist state.

All indications right now are that the young Kim Jong-un is

backed by the all-powerful state news media - KCNA -

and its communistic propaganda machine in anointing him

as the "Great Successor" to his "Dear Leader" father Kim

Jong-il and his dictator grandfather Kim Il Sung, who

founded DPRK - Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.

I hope for better things for the people, but I don't see any

radical improvement there unless Jong-un surprises everybody

by reducing the oppression and tryanny of his own people.

Educated in Europe for a few short years, Kim Jong-un is

fascinated with IT and maybe abit of a closet Westerner in his

own way. Such may then bring some kind of enlightenment to

North Korea at some point during his rule although that would

seem to me to be a very distant thing at the moment.

All things must come to end and so will the Kim Dynasty

of North Korea sooner or later. Hopefully sooner rather

than later. But right now, there doesn't seem to be anybody

or anything that will change the equation for the better.

Indeed the opposite could happen if Kim Jong-un decides

to do something crazy like set off a nuclear bomb or in-

stigate a conventional military attack against South Korea

or Japan. North Koreans see both of those nations as im-

placable enemies going back more than 65 to 70 years.

Whether the powerful North Korea military, with its more

than 1,000,000,000 standing army, will truly back Kim

Jong-un remains to be seen although thus far they have

stated they will. The North Korean mindset is totally

different to that of most Westerners and Asians

outside the last Stalinist State on earth. After Kim Jong-il's

formal state funeral on December 28th - in which presumably

his body will not be buried be saved for future display and

homage at the Memorial Palace - the young Kim Jong-un

will probably be surrounded and guided by his own Kim

relatives in his tentative steps to rule some 24 million

improvished and brutalised North Koreans. His own

father presided over mass starvation of some 2 million

people and the torture and imprisonment of those

who dared to defy the "Dear Leader."

North Korea's capital of Pyongyang.

No new leader can change that mindset of the people or nation

overnight, even if he wants to. Will North Korea be better off with

Kim Jong-un after the deaths of his dictator father and earlier his

grandfather? Perhaps!! Be we don't know at this very early stage

of post-"Dear Leader" and at the rise of the new "Great Successor."

At his young age of under 30, Kim Jong-un could well be

around for another 40 to 50 years to rule inside North Korea.

At home, I've had a number of flashbacks of my North Korea

stay as I've read with intense interest the unfolding drama now

taking place inside Pyongyang. I wish, too, I was there to witness

first hand the dramatic drama of the Korean People at what

could be the most dangerous time for the foes aganist the

last Stalinist State. Things there are quite uncertain as the

transition period takes hold since Kim Jong-il's death

by an heart attack last Saturday while he was travelling

on a train, so we are told. What, however, is absolutely

certain is that there is no "Dear Leader" anymore!!

My Best 11 Images of 2011.

To bring this year to a close, I have chosen 11 photos

of what I consider to be among some of my best images

of 2011. This is a novelty for me that I have not previously

tried at previous year's end in presenting some of my

photoshots from around the world.

This year alone I have taken perhaps over 5,000 photo-

graphs of various people, places, and events. Picking

one's own best images is, of course, a very subjective

and rather prejudicial exercise in favour of one's self.

Of the 11 images picked, most of them have not been

published online by me before. On top of that, the

images I have picked could be viewed as a rather one-

sided selection without a judge or jury to determine

what is the best of what I have photographically

produced in this year of 2011.

So, I must leave whatever judgement or criticism or praise

of my photoimages upto my own blog readership whether

I like it or not. In any event, if the response or reaction to

my best 11 images of 2011 proves of broader interest,

then I may just decide to do an annual feature of my

best images for next year's end of 2012 and so on

thru 2013, 2014, 2015, etc., etc.

But let me not jump the gun, but rather go ahead with

presenting my best 11 images of 2011 for you right now

The No. 1 image is viewed by me as the best of my

2011 photography. Of the other images from 2 to 11,

they are simply presented without regard to them be-

ing recorded as 2nd or 3rd or 4th place, etc. You'll

note, too, that just over half of the images are those of

people followed by places and things. Photograph-

ing people is one of my favourite endeavours. There

are, after all, more people in the world than most

other places and things.

Yet, as an independent photographer I also

like to photograph unsual places and things that I

see with my eyes and cameras. It's always a tossup

for me between spending more time on taking photo-

shots of people over places and things. Yet, quite often

I find such places and things to be more fascinating than

human beings, especially in trying to record say animals,

wildlife, dramatic situations, birds, and open nature

all around me.

I do hope you like all or some of the above images and

I would be happy to have your comments or feedback

from you no matter what you may think.

Dog Gate At Bourne Hall.

In the quaint English village of Ewell there stands an

architectually-imposing and aesthetic Dog Gate at un-

usual Bourne Hall. I was on my way to Epsom for a few

days when I stumbled upon Bourne Hall from my car

window as my pal Gary Day was driving at the wheel. I

immediately got him to stop so that I could venture to find

out more about Bourne Hall. It was The Dog Gate (shown

above) that was irresistable to me although Gary was more

concerned about hitting the road than me spending 45 or

so minutes at Bourne Hall on a rather bitterly cold day.

Whatever, venture I did and here are a few historical notes

about the rather special and esoteric place that I found

and visited at Ewell.

These Guyz Greeted Me!!

"Bourne Hall was designed in about 1770 for Philip Rowden, a London

merchant who was looking for a country residence. Later the house

came to Thomas Hercey Barritt of Jamaica. He improved the grounds

by building a dairy shaped like a castle - the Turrets, demolished in

1967 - and by improving the entrance with The Dog Gate, which is

decorated with his coat of arms. After him, in 1859, came George

Torr, an engineer and charcoal maker, who became a village

benefactor. He gave helped to found the West Street School.

When he died, his widow Elizabeth found consolation in perfecting

the grounds of the house, relying on her head gardener James

Child. Along the walk to the orchards there were prize-winning

chrysanthemums, and orchids grew in the heated greenhouses.

Inside the house the entrance hall was paved with marble, and

there was panelling and plaster columns on the walls. There were

eleven bedrooms on the first and second floor, and on the ground

floor a library and billiard room, as well as two drawing rooms

whose fireplaces were carved with marble statuary and ornaments.

The servants had their rooms on the lower ground floor.

The Horse Pond At Bourne Hall.

"During the First World War the house (Bourne Hall ) was used

as a hospital for soldiers. From 1925 it housed a girls' school, run

from Ewell Castle. Part of the garden became a hockey field, and

the conservatories were turned into classrooms. The headmist-

resses ran it as 'a school for the daughters of gentlemen', and in the

earlier years tradesmens' daughters could be turned away. There

were three houses - Doric, Ionic and Corinthian - and the talbot

from the Dog Gate appeared on the school hatband. The school

lost money after the Second World War. It closed suddenly in 1953

and pupils arriving for the autumn term were surprised to find the

gates locked. During the following ten years the house, already in an

unsatisfactory condition, fell into further decay. It was demolished

in 1962 and the present Bourne Hall was built in 1969.

She Dazzled Me With Her Swan Beauty At Bourne Hall.

"In the summer of 1996, Bourne Hall Lake was in a sorry state.

The waters of this Ewell landmark slowly vanished due to a wide-

spread lowering of the water table - a longterm effect of reduced

rainfall and increased use. This was not the first time that the springs

had failed, but it demonstrated how local people could no longer

rely on the natural forces of geology to keep the lake supplied with

springwater through the summer months. Originally this was

a stretch of river, the headwaters of the Hogsmill. The lake was

formed in the middle ages as a fishpond, and in the 18th century

it was re-fashioned as a formal water feature, only to be given its

more natural outline to suit the Victorian garden. The water rose

at several points within the lake, and up until Roman times offerings

were made to these springs, which were sacred. . Water from

a nearby borehole is used to top it up as it evaporates, and a

continual overflow into the Horse Pond helps to keep

the river Hogsmill fresh and clean.

"(At) the turn of the century (there was) almost an invasion

of English racing by Americans at the nearby famous Epsom

Race Track. In 1900 five of the top ten jockeys were Amer-

icans. Some of them came to race, some were only interested in

arranging large betting coups by doping horses. Lester Reiff, an

American jockey, won the 1901 Derby after a very roughly ridden

race. He was disliked by English jockeys for his combination of

skill and dishonesty which made him a formidable opponent.

Finally, he had his licence withdrawn late in 1901, after stop-

ping a horse in a race at Newmarket. In 1907 the Derby was

won by Orby, a horse owned by an Irish American, Richard

Croker. It was reckoned that 'Boss' Croker had made his

money from racketeering and was boss of the powerful

Tammany cartel in New York. Orby was the first Irish horse

to win the Derby. One Irish lady told Croker's trainer,

'Thank God and you, sir, we have lived to see a

Catholic horse win the Derby'.

All of the above information I have used herein comes from

Ewell History Internet Files, which I think best explains some-

thing about Bourne Hall. But for me the accidental visit to

Bourne Hall saw the lovely layout of the gardens and grounds

with the beautiful white swan there - who actually pecked

me when she came out of the pond to check me out - and

literally dozens upon dozens of waterfowl from ducks to

drakes to seagulls. Although bitterly cold was the day at

Ewell just two weeks away from Christmas Day, 2011,

it was such a joy to find Bourne Hall and that marvellous

Dog Gate to first greet me and one and all. As I left, my

pal Gary Day quickly hit the acceleration pedal to make

up for my time spent at Bourne Hall. He stayed inside

the car while I got frozen stiff as the biting wind then bid

us goodbye as we swiftly hit the road again toward

Epsom ... Nice day, though, for me at Bourne Hall!

Met Police Drug & Knife Trap at London's Elephant & Castle.

On Wednesday, while at London's Elephant & Castle Tube

Station, a good example of the scenes of social and moral break-

down was seen as I saw the drug dog with 25 or so Met copz

converged at the passenger exit with their drug and knife trap

already set up as the police dog indicated possible drugs, or

what have you, on dozens of black and mixed race thugz leaving

the station. Drugz, knivez, even a gun, came to be found among

such criminal thugz at between 18 to 25 years of age. It was

around 3:00pm on St. Andrew's Day has I arrived to pick

up my copy of the city edition of the London Evening

Standard at E&C.

In order to document and photograph something of the police

scene, I was forced to wait until the cop with his video camera

moved from behind me to another spot to video each stop

and search of those who had been stopped so that I would

not be detected recording something of the ongoing

police scene at E&C.

That I did successfully as seen in the above image I took

of something of the police scene at the drug and knife bust.

Such shows that we've now gone from "Village England"

to the England of the vile and vulgar immigrants, Muslims,

gypsies, and foreigners that have brought with them all

of their crime spree, all of their drug pushing, all of their

knife-carrying, and all of their various diseases and

cultural mishmash that has been forced upon us by

Standing and watching at E+C for an hour of what the

back to homebase. About an hour after getting back,

I heard a gentle knock on my front door. There I saw

two nice Mother Teresa nuns standing in their blue and

white religious surplices with wrapped Xmas gifts for me!

Such were the first of my gifts so far for this Adventide.

They also invited me to Christmas Day Dinner at their St.

George's Road hostel, where I had stayed as then homeless

some 7 years ago. The thoughtfulness and kindness of the

Sisters of Charity stood in sharp contrast to the beastily

treatment of Emma West at the cold and political hands

of the dead-end Croydon magistrates and the police scene

at E&C with their drug and knife busts of criminal

blacks and wretched foreigners now firmly planted in

the UK to bring the country into future years and years

of their criminality and contempt. Seeing the good nuns

of Blessed Mother Teresa (1910-1997) at my door was

truly surreal for me as an avid Anglican that holds such

religious sisters in high and spiritual and ecumenical

esteem. God Bless them!

Christmastide and the police drug and knife busts and

now the religious sisters standing in front of me, couldn't

have been more raw and even disconcerting for me to

think of what I'd seen. What prevailed the most for me

was to see the goodness and godliness against the dark-

fellow humankind even at this Christmastide. And so it

was Emma West, The Druggies, And The Nuns that

played on my English Anglican mind and will no

doubt do so during the whole of Advent, 2011.

'for her own protection' after the Croydon magistrates

had heard she had received death threats! Now, who

are they kidding? If such death threats existed, why not

provide her with police protection instead of locking her

up at HMP Bronzefield at Ashford, Middlesex? Death

threats are two a penny nowdays in the UK. In fact,

she might be in more danger inside Bronzefield since

such is also full, no doubt, of convicted immigrant and

foreign criminals who wouldn't take much fancy to what

she stated in her race opinions! Putting the 34 year mother

of two inside a UK prison even before she is legally found

guilty of what is called a "Racially Aggravated Public

Order Offense" is still a shameful act of injustice inside

England. And who in heaven's name came up with this

RAPOO? Take a guess? Yep, some bloody white

liberal New Labour leftist I bet!!!

Medieval Joust At Eltham Palace.

A stone's throw from the private road of Chaundrye

Close with its buckling and crumbling red brick walls,

stands elegent Eltham Palace from the English 1390's.

Kings and queens have lived and stayed at the palace

that was centuries later saved when Stephen &
Ginie Courtauld leased the old palace and restored it
to something of its former glory in the 1930's. An ex-
cellent overview of the palace's long history and
The Courtland's role in saving it, is found at

Over the centuries, the palace had declined by the mid-

16th century as an important venue for British Royalty

and their Regal Court. Prior to that, such figures that

had either resided or visited at the palace, to name just
a few, were Henry VIII, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey,

Geoffrey Chaucer, King Leo V of Armenia, Byzantine

Emperor Manuel Palaeologus, King John, Henry V,

Erasmas, Elizabeth I, Edwad III, The Black Prince.

No wonder Eltham Palace was so important then

and even more so historically, culturally and

magically today.

So it was back in the summer of 2011 that made Eltham

Palce so attractive to visit for me aside not from just the
joust that took place on that Sunday of the First of Anglican
Trinity. It was, in fact, Trinity Sunday, 2011, that saw the
curtain rise on a bright new day at the palace that had been
set aside for the Grand Medieval Joust of Knights on their

magnificent and stout horses, for costumed men and wo-
men to be dressed in 16th century period attire, for old
seasoned archers to hit the bulleye at the Rose Garden,
and for the sheer delight of wondering around the palace
both inside and outside, pretty freely.

And for all little cheerful kidz there to be totally excited and

thrilled at seeing and talking with big men in complete medie-

val armour and mail underdress. Also included were flourish-

ing falconers and their extraordinary falconry that saw birds

of prey fly across the open sky and only to return to

the falconer's thick leather-gloved hand like lost children

having found mom and dad again. Next came School of
Fools or the jesters ,who did their court tricks to once use
as"japering jesters ... to keep their regal masters and
royal mistresses happy and truly content."

Along with cream high tea of Devonshire clotted cream

and fresh Eltham Palace baked buttery scones that fitted
in nicely after seeing inside The Great Hall and the
Courtlauds' home that displayed proudly its art deco
taste and its oil paintings of old masters. And in the
distant some medieval music of entertainment for all,
who could also witness displays of classy horsemanship
and swift javelin thrusts. Heuristics on the South Lawn

was embraced, too. While traditional English Fools
showed their utter silliness with "Nought 'twixt the
Ears" of such court fools, who were told they "hath
not so much brains as earwax." Such only made
them even more foolish fools! The only things
missing were cats and dogs and donkeys and carts!

Otherwise, the best things at Eltham Palace on Trinity
Sunday was surely not just the joust and the falconry,
but all the other kind of things that helped to uplift the
mind and the imagination of the huge crowd of perhaps
thousands of folkz from both far and wide. For me it was
one of those "Days Out Worth Talking About," to use
here the English Heritage's own promotional slogan.

Israel has awkwardly and desperately renewed its outworn

war threats against Iran in recent weeks, indicating that it's

getting prepared to launch a military strike on the Islamic

Republic's nuclear facilities.

Last month, the Zionist regime successfully test fired a missile

which is said to have the capability of carrying a nuclear war-

head and reach Iran, as well as Russia and China. On Nov.

2, the TV stations around the world screened footage of a

rocket-propulsion system being launched from somewhere

around the Israeli coastal Palmachim military base. The

missile's range is claimed to be 10,000 kilometers and

therefore, Iran will be easily within the reach of it,

assuming a military attack on Iran is undertaken.

However, now even the most optimistic advocates of war

with Iran within the fractured cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu

know that "empty vessels make the most noise" and that a

strike on Iran's nuclear facilities will be practically the same as

the evaporation of the Zionist entity. They are well aware of

Iran's military might and the recent advancements and progresses

in Iran's weaponry industry. Although the hawkish Israeli FM

Avigdor Lieberman has boasted of "keeping all the options

on the table" with regards to Iran's nuclear program, he dis-

missed reports that Israeli cabinet members have reached

an agreement over launching an attack against Iran.

The deceptive and illusory claims of Israeli Prime Minister

Benjamin Netanyahu that he is lobbying to persuade the cabinet

to authorize a military strike against Iran's nuclear installations

has even evoked the surprise and astonishment of the American

media, who reacted to the war threats skeptically. In a Nov. 2,

2011 report published just a few hours after Israel test fired its

nuclear missile, CBS News wrote that the international community

is used to hearing of Tel Aviv's war threats against Iran and the

recent warmongering statements of Netanyahu are nothing new

and unexpected: "It remained unclear whether Israel was

genuinely poised to strike or if it was saber-rattling to prod

the international community into taking a tougher line on Iran.

Israeli leaders have long hinted at a military option, but they

always seemed mindful of the practical difficulties, the

likelihood of a furious counterstrike and the risk

of regional mayhem."

The words of Israeli officials, even though disproportionately

aggrandized and exaggerated by the mainstream media, cut

no ice anymore. The Israeli regime is too fragile and small

to pose a threat to Iran's security. Over the past 10 years,

the White House, with the unreserved assistance of its client

state, Israel, repeatedly threatened Iran with the possibility of

a military attack. Even Barack Obama who is unquestionably

a wolf in sheep's clothing and understands nothing of peace

and cordiality had once in 2010 talked of the possibility of

a nuclear strike against Iran; a reckless statement which was

condemned by many politicians and pundits around the world.

It's now clear to the international observers that Israel talks

through its hat. It only runs a psychological operation against

Iran to force it into giving up its nuclear rights. The irony is that

it is Israel, the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle

East, that is hell bent on disrupting Iran's nuclear program which

it impetuously and irrationally claims to be aimed

at military purposes.

The Israeli officials, however, frequently direct war threats

against Iran with impunity and in breach of several internation-

ally recognized treaties, conventions and charters. On one hand,

any Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities can be considered a

war of aggression which is "a military conflict waged without the

justification of self-defense" and since the Korean War of the

early 1950s, waging such a war is a crime under the customary

international law. It's conventional for the criminal state of Israel

to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity; however, if

it frantically makes such a decision, it will be committing a

crime which the international community should

categorically respond to.

On July 3, 1933, the first convention that defined aggression

was signed in London by representatives of Romania, Estonia,

Latvia, Poland, Turkey, USSR, Iran and Afghanistan. It was

initiated by Soviet Foreign Minister Maxim Litvinov in response

to threats of use of force by the German government following

Hitler's rise to power. The government of Finland acceded to

the convention on January 31, 1934. These countries decided

that any kind of aggressive behavior on behalf of the members

of the League of Nations would be illegal and illegitimate.

On the other hand, if Israelis attack Iran's nuclear facilities

while no serious threat is posed against them on behalf of the

Persian Gulf country, their assault can also be categorized as

a "preemptive war" which is illegal without the approval of the

United Nations Security Council. "The initiation of armed conflict,

that is being the first to 'break the peace' when no 'armed

attack' has yet occurred, is not permitted by the UN Charter."

Israel's war threats against Iran also violate the UN Charter

and so far, the UNSC has given no decisive response to this

flagrant breach of international law. According to Article 2,

Section 4 of the UN Charter which is generally considered

to be 'jus cogens' (compelling law), all UN members are

prohibited from exercising "the threat or use of force against

the territorial integrity or political independence of any state."

Article 51 of the UN Charter stipulates that defense by

a member state is justified only if, "an armed

attack occurs," against the attacking country.

Moreover, it's crystal clear that Israel is not in a position to

threaten Iran against a military strike over its nuclear program.

Israel does not even have the credibility of asking Iran to halt

its nuclear program while it possesses 300 atomic warheads.

It has been repeatedly clarified by international organizations,

including the NIE 2007 report that Iran doesn't possess

nuclear weapons and also doesn't have any intention of building

such weapons. Of course it's dismantling the nuclear arsenal of

Israel which should be put on the IAEA's agenda, not Iran's

nuclear program which has been clearly demonstrated

to be aimed at civilian use.

of Leo The Great to solemnly celebrate the 136th

Anniversary of the Guild of All Souls at London's St.

Stephen's Parish Church with the principal celebrant and

preacher the Rt. Rev'd Norman Banks, The new Anglican

Bishop of Richborough & latterly Vicar of Our Lady

of Walsingham, which is sometimes called

"England's Nazareth."

The Six-Member Choir At The Solemn Requiem.

Before and during the Solemn Requiem, the six-person

choir (shown above) sang the Introit, the Kyrie, and

the Aeternam from the Requiem a 6 by Duarte Lobo:

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,

et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion, et tibi

reddetue votum in Jerusalem.

Exaudi orationem meam;

ad te omnis caro veniet.

The Rite of the Solemn Requiem.

During the mass the Liturgy of the Word was

spoken from the Book of Lamentations:

My soul is shut out from peace; I have forgotten

happiness. And now I say, 'My strength is gone,

and that hope which came from the Lord.' Brooding

on my anquish and afflication is gall and wormwood.

My spirit ponders it continually and sinks with me.

After the Gospel Acclamation and Prayer of the Faithful,

the profound Liturgy of the Eucharist began with the

Preparation of the Gifts. Thus, the Offertory of the

gifts of bread and wine are brought to the Anglo-

Catholic altar at which the principal celebrant

and preacher was none other than the bishop

himself - The Right Reverend Norman Banks.

With all the faithful standing, an Invitation to Prayer,

Prayer over the Gifts, and Eucharistic Prayer, are all

carefully presented and said. The choir sings The

Sanctus and Benedictus as the bishop continues

the Eucharistic Prayer; after the word of Institution

he says: "Let us proclaim the mystery of faith."

All then say together:

Christ has died, Christ is risen,

Christ will come again.

At the conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer the bishop

sings: ... all glory and honour is yours, almighty Father,

for ever and ever. All then say in unison: AMEN.

The Solemn Requiem arrives at The Communion Rite

with the Lord's Prayer, The Peace, in which each other

offer the sign of peace or greeting, and then Agnus Dei

is sang by the choir with an Invitiation to Communion

which is answered by The Reception of Holy Communion

with William Byrd's Miserere mihi sung in

the quiet background:

Miserere mihi - Have mercy upon

Domine, et exaudi - me, O Lord, and

orationem meam. - harken unto my prayer.

A period of silence is kept by clergy and laity

alike as everyone then stands at The Prayer

after Holy Communion.

The Anglo-Catholic Rite.

Concluding The Rites, members of the congregation

and the many clergy present were invited to the served

hot buffet at the St. Stephen's House. At the receeption

there I was able to meet a number of people including

Rev'd Father Paul Gibbons, 73, who is a retired HM

Prison Chaplain of 25 years standing. He was a delightful

man to meet. I also met Rev'd Father Richard Norman,

86 (pictured below), who was dressed as an orthodox

priest and was charming to the umpteenth degree.

As for the bishop, he and I had first met earlier

before the Solemn Requiem (see caption picture of

us at top of page) and he was the second Anglican

Bishop of Richborough I have encountered. Only

consecrated and enthroned as a new Anglican bishop

in June of this year, Bishop Norman was previously

the vicar of Our Lady of Walsingham at where

the renowned Anglican Shrine is well established. I

and my dearest friend Contessa Maria spent a long

and memorable weekend together there at Norfolk's

religious Walsingham more than 4 years ago now.

Clergy Chat: Anglo-Catholic or Catholic

or Anglican? That Is The Question!

Clergy-To-Clergy: Bishop Norman Banks and

fellow cleric at St. Stephen House's "Holy Buffet."

The 136th Anniversay of the Guild of All Souls was most

worthy to me to see Anglo-Catholicism upfront in its

marvellous practise as a conservative Anglican myself

although not as an Anglo-Catholic per se. I am more

Protestant than Catholic, yet love the traditions and rites

of the Holy Catholic Church without a doubt. But my

displeasure with the present Anglican Church of Engalnd

makes me wonder sometimes why I am still a member of

the ultraliberal and leftwing agendist Church of England

under Rowan Douglas Williams' poetic Canterburian

See. I think Anglo-Catholics are more deeply religious

perhaps and politically more conservative than many of my

fellow Anglicans and American Episcopalians it seems

to me. In any event, I so much enjoyed witnessing the

136th Anniversary of the Guild of All Souls and seeing

inside Anglo-Catholicism pretty upclose for

an old Anglican like me!

Sheriff Matthew J. Lutz and his trigger-happy posse

made world headlines a few weeks ago in their wan-

toned and deliberate slaughter of almost 50 rare and

exotic animals in the name of "protecting" the

frightened folkz of Zanesville, Ohio, USA.

The savagery and Yankee spectacle of the open animal

slaughter of almost 50 endangered creatures by Lutz and

his armed Ohio thugs sent animal lovers around the

globe in righteous uproar and loud outrage against him,

the mayor, and the native folkz of Zanesville. It's doubt-

ful, however, that the closed and ignorant minds of many

of the locals will be opened any time soon.

Quick to savagely slaughter the rare and exotic animals

after their provocative release by their disgruntled

Muskingum County Animal Farm owner and Viet-

Lutz wanted to look like some local superhero or

robocop to ensure his own political re-election as

sheriff. What he did may just backfire on

him after all!

The news media generally excused the sheriff for the

savage animal slaughter by focussing instead on the long-

time feud of Terry Thompson against his neighbours and

the local copz, along with his Federal criminal record, that

led to Thompson's apparent personal revenge against

them by releasing the hapless creatures upon them.

Everywhere and everyday inside America there are daily

feuds of one sort or another that oftentimes end in some

deadly massacre of people in the community. Terry

Thompson was as much a victim as a sinner

no matter what.

Even if such is true about Thompson, what Lutz and his

hung go lawmen did is still an outrage that could only

happen inside murderous America. As sheriff, he stationed

his cruel henchmen with orders to kill on sight any of the

loose and magnificent animals has if such was a free

shooting safari for the whole world to see. One wonders

what would happen if there was a mass escape of

prisoners from Lutz's Muskingum County Jail. Would

he slaughter them, too? Matt Lutz's primal reaction is

all too typical of many Yankee lawmen - "Shoot First,

Then Ask Questions Later." Hence, the rare species

are now dead and buried forever due to such a

dreadful mindset of the Muskingum County sheriff.

his deadly force. He even ordered the schools in lockdown

mode and thus created even more public panic by what

he did. The darkness he created was far darker

than the Zanesville night.

Seeing the unbelievable images of the savagery of the

Lutz's slaughter just made me want to vomit and scream

at him and his cold-blooded lackies that no doubt

congratulated themselves on their "glorious" day kill!!

The appalling example to the children of the world by

lousey Lutz and his fellow jackasses is that it is okay

to kill rare and exotic creatures for whatever reason

comes to the minds of those with handy shotguns or

pricey high-powered rifles. It also re-enforces the deadly

attitude and killing culture of hunters and poachers that

seek animal trophies at any costs against the well-

being of wildlife and its supreme nature. Rather than

praise Matt Lutz and his armed deputies for what

they savagely did to the endangered species, they

should be condemned wholeheartedly for their

savagery of the slaughter at Ohio's Zanesville.
